1. Executive Summary
- We recommend maintaining an overall continuity of approach with REF 2014. We believe that the assessment burden should not be increased.
- Generally, UOA3 is acceptable. However, there are issues that need to be taken into consideration when assessing allied health profession (AHP) research. AHPs are a diverse group, leading to a broad range of research in the allocated UOA. There is a risk that high-impact research in small professions may get lost, or be assessed by people with inadequate knowledge of a specialist field. We recommend an AHP sub-profile within the UOA or ‘tagging’ and indexing submissions by discipline at submission stage.
