The ‘Healthcare Professionals in Research’ (HPiR) Facebook group aims to create a community for NMAHP Doctoral and Postdoctoral researchers who, as part of their research, often leave their clinical communities to advance their knowledge in a variety of areas (engineering, bioengineering, physiology, neurology etc.) and require peer support.

Currently, the HPiR Facebook group consists of approximately 140 NMAHP Doctoral and Postdoctoral researchers, including radiographers, podiatrists, nurses, midwives, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, clinical psychologists and dieticians.

It is intended to be a safe professional space for members.  Members are encouraged to support, share with and inspire others (#supportshareinspire).  It is a closed group, requiring all members to be NMAHP Doctoral or Postdoctoral researchers. To date the Facebook site has been regulated by multidisciplinary Doctoral and Postdoctoral Community Managers: Dr Janet Deane (PT), Gemma Clunie (SLT), Calandra Feather (Nursing), Ruth Barker (PT), Dr Annabel Rule (OT) and Dr Margaret Coffey (SLT), who curate content and monitor admissions.

The HPiR group was set up by Dr Janet Deane, Postdoctoral Research Associate and Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist, using funding awarded to her during her PhD studies by the Imperial College London Research Community Fund.

CAHPR is pleased to announce that it officially supports the Healthcare Professionals in Research Facebook group and looks forward to sharing updates through this platform.
