Call for CAHPR Hub Leaders West Mids and Essex

What is CAHPR?

The CAHPR mission is to develop AHP research at all levels, strengthen evidence of the professions’ value and impact for enhancing service user and community care, and enable the professions to speak with one voice on research issues, thereby raising their profile and increasing their influence.

What is a CAHPR Hub?

CAHPR has developed 21 active research hubs across the UK with over 150 hub leaders and research facilitators who all operate on a voluntary basis. Each CAHPR hub plans activities to meet local needs to increase research capacity and capability.

CAHPR Hubs main goals are to:

• Build AHPS research capacity and capability
• Support the generation, dissemination and implementation of the evidence base within practice
• Develop AHPs’ scientific knowledge base by nurturing uni- and interdisciplinary research activity
• Increase AHP engagement with clinical academic career programmes
• Strengthen the AHPs’ research profile

What does a Hub Leader do?

Every CAHPR Hub is organised with a Hub Leader or up to three Co-Leaders and a group of up to six facilitators.

CAHPR Hub Leaders and Facilitators day-to-day tasks include:

• Running events and projects to increase local AHP research capacity and capability
• Provide individual advice to AHPs on research and related career programmes
• Develop strategic links with key research organisations, R&D leads and local AHP managers
• Promote CAHPR in their region
• Reporting on Hub activities.

Hub Leader Criteria

Member of an allied health professional body that subscribes to CAHPR.

Doctorate level

Relevant practice or higher education setting

Commitment to the aims of CAHPR (including involving all AHPs in hub)

Previous experience in leadership roles

Active engagement with clinicians, managers and academics

Current engagement in research

Publication record

Research funding grants awarded

Experience as a researcher

National and/or international profile

What support is there? 

Every hub can bid for annual funding each year to support activities

Two Regional Hub Forum meetings a year, these include CPD sessions and a chance to share learning with other Hub Leaders (travel expenses provided).

Access to an online network for Hub Leaders

Support from CAHPR staff team

Opportunities to get involved with joint projects with other hubs.
